Address: LongwoodFlorida 32750 Employment Type: Contract To Hire Last Published: Jul 17, 2025 Other Area(s) Scale Operator – Seminole County Solid Waste This position is recruited and staffed with reSOURCE Government Services, not Seminole County Government Seminole County is a 100% drug free workplace Location:  Seminole County Landfill – 1930 E Osceola Rd, Geneva, FL 32732 & Seminole County Central Transfer Station – 1950 FL-419, Longwood, FL 32750 Work Schedule:  4/10-Hour days, 7:15 AM – 5:45 PM (Monday – Sunday); rotating schedule Salary:  $16.15 per hour + benefits *Required:  Must be able to clear pre-employment background, drug test; Must possess a valid and active Driver's License with a clean driving record*  Description Daily operation of truck scales at the Central Transfer Station or Landfill which includes opening and closing. Examines incoming waste loads to assure material meets Department/Division requirements. Assures all transactions are properly recorded in Scale Management System. Determines proper charges, collects fees, charges proper accounts and issues receipts. Maintains accurate control of fees/monies and ensures records are balanced and reconciled daily. Provides customer service as cashier and must communicate well with the public. Manages cash and credit transactions at the facilities. Performs daily maintenance duties around assigned work areas. Direct customers to designated areas based on type of waste. Instructs customers on proper procedures for entering and departing scale platforms and maintains orderly flow of traffic. Must understand and follow written and oral instructions to provide Solid Waste customer service, verify compliance with Franchises, and maintain requisite records.  Keeps records and submits reports on work performed. Additional Duties: In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum Qualifications Completion of high school/GED and one (1) year experience is required. Must have experience with general computer operation. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.   Additional Requirements Proper operation of computerized scale system.  Arithmetic and basic record keeping procedures.  Scales, cash register and basic computer operation. Responsible money handling ability. May be required to maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Department Specific trainings per position may be required.  Essential Functions Indoor office environment, but transaction window is frequently opened to expose the work area to high noise and outdoor temperatures, with occasional high dust, dirt and grease. Works alone, or works closely with others. Typically sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, crawling and/or kneeling. Lifting up to 40 lbs. may also be required.

Essential Functions Note: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Perform daily pre/post trip inspections on equipment and vehicles, keep accurate documentation. Adhere to the County/Division attendance policy. Uses road tractors and/or off-road equipment as assigned. Hauls walking floor trailers, on or off-road, for transportation of solid waste. Uses heavy equipment to process or dispose of solid waste at a transfer station or Class I landfill. Perform job duties in a safe and productive manner. Completes daily logs. Keep equipment and vehicles clean and orderly.   Additional Duties: Performs other related work as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years’ experience required Must possess and maintain Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Additional Requirements Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to learn how to operate heavy equipment to include, excavator, bull dozer, front-end-loader and other similar equipment used by the Division. All employees must attend Seminole County required trainings. Department specific trainings per position may be required.    Performance Expectations Essential Function Performance Expectation Adhere to the County/Division attendance policy. Use of scheduled leave meets Division policy. Perform daily pre/post trip inspections on equipment and vehicles, keep accurate documentation. Perform daily trip inspections and turn in documentation daily to supervisor. Perform job duties in a safe and productive manner. Follow all safety policies and State and Federal guidelines and maintain productivity. Keep equipment and vehicles clean and orderly. Perform housekeeping at the end of the shift and keep vehicles and equipment in good working condition.   Working Conditions Incumbents may work in all types of weather conditions and work in areas with a high exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, vapors, and noise.
